Vietnamese President To Lam commenced a four-day state visit to Singapore on May 28, aiming to fortify bilateral cooperation and advance the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established between the two countries back in 2025. This visit underscores the growing strategic and economic ties between Singapore and Vietnam, with both nations actively seeking deeper collaboration across various sectors.

During his stay, President To Lam is set to engage in talks with prominent Singaporean leaders, including President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. The discussions are anticipated to revolve around strengthening economic relations, boosting investment, enhancing technology cooperation, and fostering regional collaboration.

A significant event during President Lam’s visit is his keynote address at the Shangri-La Dialogue, which marks his first major international speech on Vietnam’s foreign policy since he took office in April 2026. This address is expected to highlight Vietnam’s strategic priorities and its vision for regional and global engagement.

Both nations are making strides in expanding cooperation in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation, largely through the Vietnam-Singapore Tech Connect Initiative. Another focal point of their collaboration is the advancement of the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIP 2.0), which aims to integrate smart technologies, prioritize sustainability, and promote green development, thereby attracting high-value investments.

The visit not only emphasizes the robust partnership between the two countries but also reflects a mutual interest in deepening ties across multiple sectors, setting a foundation for future growth and cooperation.
