Vietnam and Singapore Strengthen Ties with Focus on Green and Digital Cooperation

Vietnamese Foreign Minister Lê Hoài Trung met with his Singaporean counterpart Vivian Balakrishnan in Kuala Lumpur on October 26, alongside Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính’s participation in the 47th ASEAN Summit. The two ministers reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing the Vietnam–Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, emphasizing stronger coordination across key sectors.
Both sides praised the recent upgrade in bilateral relations, calling it a milestone for deepening cooperation. They also welcomed the completion of the Action Programme to implement the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which is expected to guide joint efforts over the next five years.
Trung and Balakrishnan agreed to expand collaboration through high-level exchanges and to advance the Green-Digital Economic Partnership and Economic Connectivity Agreement. The two nations also plan to modernize Vietnam–Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIPs), focusing on sustainability and smart technology, while strengthening cooperation in education and urban development.
Both ministers reaffirmed their countries’ shared positions at regional forums, particularly on the East Sea issue, and committed to upholding ASEAN’s common stance while promoting peace and adherence to international law under the 1982 UNCLOS.
